The Mavericks fought with everything they have in order to acquire him, the NBA GM’s predict him being the Rookie of the Year and many believe he will be the best European player ever. So far, Luka Doncic is not letting down. He is putting on great performances with the Mavs and keeps improving.
It’s a given he will be repeatedly compared to the greatest basketball players, past and present. Doncic recently repeated LeBron James’ rookie feat and now, he is following in Michael Jordan’s footsteps.
Although just seven games into the season, the 19-year-old is the first rookie since MJ to average 20 points, six rebounds and four assists, per Basketball Reference.
Jordan’s numbers were higher back in 1984-85 as he averaged 28.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists but it should also be mentioned he was two years older.
