Lebron James isn’t surprised at all to see a 19-year-old Luka Doncic already making an impression this early in his rookie NBA season.
“I think European players are developed faster than NBA guys, meaning American players,” James said. “I think he’s been in a pro-development stage now for how many years? Since he’s 15? So I don’t think this is intimidating to him. I don’t think this game is something he hasn’t seen before.
“I think that’s the best thing about European basketball, pro basketball over there. They develop their players so early,” James added.
James also mentioned his former teammate Cedi Osman as an example of how ready European players can be when arriving in the NBA even at a young age.
“I’ve seen it with Cedi Osman last year in Cleveland. He was a rookie as an NBA player but you could see that his development was better than some NBA players.”
Lebron James faced Luka Doncic last night (31/10), as the L.A. Lakers got a close win over the Dallas Mavericks. After the match, Doncic headed to the Lakers‘ locker room to receive a signed jersey of Lebron.
