Giannis Antetokounmpo scored a season-high 35 points (with nine dunks) and grabbed 10 rebounds but thanks to Jamal Crawford game-winner with 0.8 remaining, the Phoenix Suns beat the Milwaukee Bucks 116 – 114 to capture their first road win in 2018-2019.
Apart from his season scoring record, Giannis grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out three assists.
Ersan Ilyasova scored nine for the Bucks while Suns‘ Dragan Bender and Elie Okombo didn’t enter the floor.
In Los Angeles, Danilo Gallinari forced the overtime with free throws en route to finishing with 20 points (and earning Doc Rivers’ praise) plus nine rebounds and to help Clippers defeat the Memphis Grizzlies 112 – 107.
Marc Gasol had one of his top performances so far this season with 27 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists for Memphis that dropped to 12-6. Omri Casspi added four points.
On the Clippers‘ side, Marcin Gortat scored seven and Boban Marjanovic had four points in five minutes. Milos Teodosic was a “DNP” few hours.
Before the match Doc Rivers had reacted to Teodosic saying that he might leave the team midseason to return to Europe, saying that he doesn’t think that this will happen.
Only four points kept Nikola Jokic away from the triple-double. The Serbian center had 11 assists and 10 rebounds to go with his six points as the Denver Nuggets routed Nikola Vucevic (16 points, eight rebounds)) Orlando Magic 112 – 87.
Juancho Hernangomez added 10 points for Denver while Evan Fournier scored five for the Magic.
Clint Capela notched a monster-double-double 29 points/21 rebounds for the Houston Rockets in a 116 – 111 loss to the Detroit Pistons.
