Eurohoops’ George Efkarpides had some questions for Serge Ibaka and the Toronto Raptors’ 29-year-old forward/center proved ready to answer all of them. Ibaka recognized the challenge of splitting time with Jonas Valanciunas, talked about Sergio Scariolo’s vision and underlined that the Finals are his team’s goal.
“I will honest with you. It’s not easy for him, even for me. We both are used to start” he said commenting his role as Valanciunas’ teammate. However, the Lithuanian center will remain on the sidelines the next four weeks after surgery to his dislocated thumb.
Scariolo, Spain’s National Team head coach, joined the Raptors’ staff last summer and has since been helping out the NBA team. “Sergio is running our offense. His vision and his basketball knowledge are helping us” Ibaka mentioned.
On the Canadian organization’s goal for the 2018-19 season, he said: “We are going for the Finals. It won’t be easy, it’s going to be a challenge, but we believe in ourselves and believe we can make it”.
