Dave Joerger on Luka Doncic: Perhaps there was an idea there was a ceiling for him

The Dallas Mavericks picked Luka Doncic in last summer’s NBA Draft. The Texans’ third place was enough, because the previously picking Sacramento Kings and Phoenix Suns preferred other exciting options. However, the Slovenian sensation has taken the NBA by storm and has positioned himself as the frontrunner for the NBA Rookie of the Year honors.

Ahead of the Kings’ away match with the Mavericks on Sunday, the visitors head coach, Dave Joerger, spoke to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon on Doncic. He admitted: “Perhaps there was an idea that there was a ceiling on him. I don’t see it, unfortunately for us. But he’s great for them and he’s great for our league”.

The Kings later on ended their opponents’ 11-game home winning streak despite the 19-year-old’s 28 points. Doncic also notched nine assists, six rebounds and one steal in 35 minutes, but wasn’t enough for his team.
