The days of Marc Gasol in Memphis are numbered and according to a new report by Shams Charania his destination may be Charlotte after all and not the Toronto Raptors who inquired about his a possible trade.
While no details are known yet about the possible Memphis – Charlotte trade, Gasol will not play in Tuesday’s Grizzlies game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. And that practically means that the talks are still ongoing.
Gasol and Mike Conley, the foundation of the Grizzlies’ roster during the last few seasons, are not considered untouchables any more. Wth less than two days left for the end of the trade deadline, it seems that a trade for at least one of them is more than possible.
The 34-year-old Gasol is a two-time All-NBA selection and has been solid this season, averaging 15.7 points, 8.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.2 blocks in 33.7 minutes per game while shooting 44.4 percent overall and 34.4 percent from 3-point range on 4.2 attempts per game.
Now in his 11th NBA season, he has played his entire career for the Grizzlies, who signed him in 2008 after acquiring his draft rights from the Los Angeles Lakers in the trade that sent Gasol’s older brother, Pau Gasol, from Memphis to the Lakers.
