Only a few days after being waived from the New York Knicks, Enes Kanter signed with the Portland Trail Blazers. The 26-year-old center confirmed his deal with the Oregon organization via Twitter.
“I am pleased to announce that I have signed with the Portland Trail Blazers for the remainder of the season. I look forward to helping the Blazers achieve the ultimate goal of competing for a championship. Excited to meet my new teammates, coaches, staff and most importantly the fans. It is a blessing to continue to compete at the highest level! Let’s go Rip City” Kanter noted.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski broke out the experienced center’s agreement with the Blazers shortly before the player himself announced he signed with the Northwest Division team. Wojnarowski later added that the Los Angeles Lakers were among other possible suitors for Kanter.
The former Utah Jazz and Oklahoma City Thunder player, both Northwest teams, took part in 44 Regular Season matches with the Knicks this year. He averaged 14 points and 10.5 rebounds per contest.
