Talking to media representatives ahead of the NBA 2018-19 Regular Season All-Star break, Rick Carlisle, the head coach of the Dallas Mavericks, commented on Luka Doncic not securing a spot in the All-Star Game: “I don’t think it was any disrespect for Luka”.
He explained: “For a kid that age, he’s uniquely strong. He’s got a lot of experience. Unless you got a rookie that is leading a winning team, which is really rare, it’s challenging to get into the All-Star Game. A lot of guys were left off in the West”.
Carlisle also talked about his own All-Star Game memories and looked back on Dwyane Wade’s and Dirk Nowitzki’s All-Star appearances. The 59-year-old American also answered questions on the challenges of the longer All-Star break.
It’s worth reminding that Doncic will play in the Rising Stars game, while Nowitzki will return to the Three-Point Contest.
