Davis Bertans is with the San Antonio Spurs the past couple of years, but perhaps will have the luxury to face his older brother Dairis in the NBA in the near future. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the New Orleans Pelicans are in serious talks with the AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milan player.
The Pelicans waived Tim Frazier according to ESPN to free a spot in their roster. They are already in advanced talks with Dairis Bertans. Much like his brother, the 29-year-old Latvian guard is very effective beyond the arc with 53.6% this season in the EuroLeague and 48.7% in the LBA Serie A.
In 22 EuroLeague contests, Bertans is averaging 6.4 points, 1 rebound, 0.7 steals and 0.6 assists. He also has 5.7 points per game in the Italian League this season.
Realizing his NBA dream
Bertans is under contract with Milan until the end of the 2018-19 season. However, the Italian club allowed him to discuss a deal with the Pelicans and to fulfill his childhood dream of being an NBA player. Milan didn’t demand buy-out money, but retained an option in case he returns to Europe.
