Shortly after AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milan announced Dairis Bertans’ departure, the New Orleans Pelicans confirmed that the 29-year-old Latvian guard will join their organization. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Bertans, who will wear #45 for the Pelicans, is coming off three EuroLeague campaigns. This year he averaged 6.4 points with 53.6% beyond the arc in Europe’s premier competition. He also had 5.7 points per LBA Serie A contest.
The new Pelican tweeted: “Wow!! Still can’t believe this is happening! Huge thanks to the Pelicans for giving me this opportunity! Can’t wait to go over there and put on that jersey!”.
He added: “Also huge thanks to Milan for letting me fulfill my dream! It has been an honor to be a part of this great organization! All the people have been like a family to me! Best of luck for you guys to accomplish all the goals!”.
