Kobe Bryant revealed that he once called Dirk Nowitzki and tried to lure him into signing with the L.A. Lakers.
While discussing spending the entirety of his career with one team in contrast with other players switching clubs, Bryant remembered trying to recruit Nowitzki. The German great respectfully declined since he couldn’t think himself outside of the Dallas Mavericks.
“I remember calling Dirk back when he was a free agent. I said. ‘Dirk listen: I know, you’re not leaving Dallas, I get it. But I got to make the call. What do you think? And he [Nowitzki] says: ‘You’re right bro. I’m a lifer like you man.'”
