Russell Westbrook went off for 19 points, 15 dimes and eight boards on Friday and the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Detroit Pistons at home. The 30-year-old point guard fell two rebounds short from a triple-double, but guaranteed a triple-double average for the third straight year early in the NBA 2018-19 Regular Season contest.

“I do what I do every single night. Regardless of what anybody says, what they call it, what they say, I’m just thankful. All the teammates in this locker room, all the teammates over these last couple years have made my job easy. I just try to do what I can to impact the game, every facet” he said afterwards.
Only Oscar Robertson previously averaged a triple-double throughout an NBA Regular Season, during the 1961-62 campaign with the Cincinnati Royals. However, Westbrook has set new heights with his third consecutive triple-double season.
