The Sacramento Kings have agreed to terms with Luke Walton to become the team’s new head coach, according to The Athletic’s Sam Amick.
Walton officially “mutually” parted ways with the L.A. Lakers Friday (12/4). The Kings expressed their interest to the 39-year-old coach who had been at the helm of the Lakers for three seasons.
San Antonio Spurs assistant and former four-time EuroLeague champion Ettore Messina had been reportedly considered a “strong candidate” for the Kings after the firing of Dave Joerger. Eventually, Kings General Manager Vlade Divac went with hiring Walton.
