In an interview to lrytas.lt, Jonas Valanciunas talked about the 2019 FIBA World Cup and his desire to continue his NBA career with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Lithuania was drawn alongside Canada, Australia and Senegal in Group H of the World Cup. The 26-year-old center is determined to help his National Team at Dongguan and beyond during the summer tournament: “If they aren’t any health issues or other conditions that won’t allow me to play, I definitely will play.”

The Grizzlies added him via trade last February, but Valanciunas wishes to extend his tenure at Memphis upon the start of the 2019-20 NBA Regular Season. “The coach trusted me a lot. It was fun to play for the Grizzlies. Coach focused on big players and I liked it. He’s gone, but this is just a business and GMs making decisions that would be the best for the team. I would like to carry on playing for the Grizzlies” he said.
