Philadelphia 76ers swingman Furkan Korkmaz talked about the reasons the 2018-2019 season has been “really tough” for him.
“I was the first guy who asked to be traded. Then six-seven players left and I stayed the whole season. It was a really tough season for me to get used to everything and deal with all this stuff,” Korkmaz said in his season exit interview, per Dave Uram.
“And then I started to play. That’s the NBA. I started to play after the trade happened.”
Back in November, Korkmaz had reportedly requested to be traded since he felt he wasn’t getting the minutes he deserved with the team. The Turkish player had come off a strong Summer League outing and he expected to be a part of the rotation in his second year as a Sixer.
Korkmaz eventually began spending more time on the floor. He finished the regular season with 5.8 points over 19.1 minutes per game.
“I got some serious minutes. I’m really proud of being here.”
