Toronto Raptors assistant coach Sergio Scariolo saw his team getting a 3-1 lead in the championship series against the Golden State Warriors Friday (10/6). Toronto needs one win in three games to claim the title but this distance may not be as short as it looks like, according to the Italian coach.
“We are calm. Happy about the game and the situation, but with the awareness that we’re playing against the best team of the last ten years here in the NBA,” Scariolo said to Spanish outlet AS. “Their players are proud, talented, with a great technical and tactical organization. We are closer than before, but at the same time, we are far away because the next game is going to be hard, competitive. We don’t expect them to give less than 100% that a champion team can give.”
Scariolo, who is also the head coach of the Spanish national team, joined the staff of the Raptors last summer.
