Raptors win the NBA title, Marc Gasol makes history

Canada and also Spain are celebrating the first ever Toronto Raptors NBA championship. The Raptors beat the depleted two-time defending champion Golden State Warriors 114-110 on Thursday night in a Game 6, the last NBA game in Oracle Arena.

Stephen Curry missed a contested 3-pointer and Toronto got the win, securing the outcome via the free throws line. Kawhi Leonard was named the Finals MVP, however, Fred VanVleet practically won the game by scoring 22 points with five 3s off the bench. Leonard also scored 22 points and Kyle Lowry finished with 26 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds.

Warriors’ Klay Thompson suffered a left knee injury and departed with 30 points in the third quarter.

Among the winners, Spaniard Marc Gasol had three points, nine rebounds, and four assists. Thanks to this result he and Pau Gasol became the first couple of brothers who have both won an NBA title.

Their compatriot Serge Ibaka added 15 points and three rebounds for the winners and also Italian Sergio Scariolo, who is also the head coach of the Spanish national team, won a championship ring as a member of the Raptors coaching staff.
