Gunshots were fired at Toronto’s Nathan Phillips Square during the Raptors’ NBA championship parade on Monday afternoon, the Toronto Police Operations Centre announced on Twitter.
About 30 minutes later, police provided the following update:
“Police have located 2 victims. Injuries are serious but not life-threatening. 2 people in custody. 2 firearms recovered. Investigating.”
Later reports by local media confirmed that the shooting at the corner of Bay and Queen Sts. left four people — including a woman in her 30s — with non-life threatening gunshot wounds.
Three people were in police custody, although no charges were immediately laid.
