After the Sacramento Kings closed out the 2019 NBA draft by picking Vanja Marinkovic, the 22-year-old Serbian guard opened a new chapter in his career or at least hopes he will. The Kings GM, Vlade Divac, has already expressed his intention to bring the young upstart to California, Marinkovic himself told Novosti he wants to play for the Kings.
“Let’s go step by step. I’m waiting for a call from Sacramento and see what their plans are” he admitted and added: “It will be an interesting summer. You should always look ahead. I’m ready for new challenges, that’s for sure.” “I hope to become a resident of Sacramento” the Serbian guard also mentioned.
Marinkovic is contracted with Partizan NIS for the 2019-20 season, but his deal includes a modest buyout for either an NBA team or a European club. The circumstances force the Kings to come to terms with the Serbian side to add him in their 2019-20 roster.
