Marc Gasol is exercising his $25.6M player option for next season and will return to the defending NBA champions in Toronto Raptors, the team announced.
Gasol could’ve opted out of his contract with the Canadian team and explore his options as a free agent. Various teams were interested in signing him including the New Orleans Pelicans.
The 34-year-old Spanish center started this past season with the Memphis Grizzlies before moving to Toronto and winning the championship. He averaged 13.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 79 games.
