Boston Celtics have agreed on a two-year deal with French center Vincent Poirier as reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
25-year-old Poirier spent the previous two seasons with Spanish side Baskonia and posted an average of 11.2 points and 8.2 rebounds in 34 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games this past campaign. He was also named in the All-EuroLeague Second team for the 2018-19 season, ending up as the rebounding leader (a total of 282).
It was long rumored that Poirier was a target of NBA teams and he had himself admitted this interest.
During the last season, he was one of the EuroLeague standouts and despite having a contract with Baskonia, he was expected to have many suitors from both sides of the Atlantic. Baskonia will receive a buyout for releasing him.
