The Orlando Magic have waived Timofey Mozgov, President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman announced.
According to Josh Robbins, the Magic intend to stretch Mozgov’s salary over the next three years which will create space under the luxury tax to potentially re-sign restricted free agent center Khem Birch.
The 32-year-old Russian center didn’t play any games this past season due to a knee injury. His last playing stretch was the 31 games with the Nets in the 2017-18 season when he averaged 4.2 points and 3.2 rebounds on a bit over 11 minutes of playtime.
Mozgov has been in the NBA since 2010 and played with the Knicks, Nuggets, Cavaliers, Lakers, Nets and Magic. He was a part of the 2016 Cavaliers championship team.
