Summer moves include injured Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. A sense of enthusiasm is built within the Brooklyn Nets. Kenny Atkinson is overtaken by the growing numbers of journalists attending the 2019 Media Day and the fans waiting to see the new stars of their favorite team.
“Well, people showed up to our press conference. First year it was like crickets,” admitted the 52-year-old head coach while discussing with reporters at the HSS Training Center, the New York Post relays, “Then I noticed people outside our practice facility when you drive out. It’s like Real Madrid.”
“There’s a different excitement with the fans,” added Atkinson, “I didn’t say they camped out, but there was some kind of tent there. So I drove around the other way and I came the back way the guy had my picture up. It’s just funny.”
The first friendly game for the new-looked Nets is scheduled for October 4th. They will take on Brazil’s Sesi/Franca at the Barclays Center. A couple of matches against the Los Angeles Lakers at China follow.
