After signing a four-year contract, Ivica Zubac did not hesitate to set the bar high for himself and the Los Angeles Clippers ahead of the 2019-20 season. He answered various questions in the 2019 Media Day extending from his playing time and his body to his new contract and winning the NBA championship.
“Ever since I got traded, the front office was saying they want me back for the future. They thought I can be a big part of the team. When the season was done, it was pretty easy,” replied the Croatian center to a question on his four-year contract, “I wanted to stay and they wanted me back.”
“It is a big responsibility,” added Zubac, “They showed their trust in me giving me a four-year deal. This summer was my best so far. I worked super hard. When I went back home, they sent coaches with me. I got to prove I am worth it and that is what I am going to do.”
“I realized I got to work on my shot and improve my body” he mentioned on his summer activities, “I’ve been working on my shot, that’s what the coaching staff wanted me to do. I lost some weight. It was more about losing body fat and gaining some muscle. I think I am in the best shape of my life.”
“It’s a whole different feeling and I feel we can win a championship” he said comparing the Clippers’ additions of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George to the Los Angeles Lakers securing LeBron James’ services last summer with himself on the squad of the other Los Angeles franchise.
