Luka Doncic executed Washington Wizards with a 34-point performance on Mavs’ opener for the 2019-20 NBA season. Wizards’ Bradley Beal challenged him physically – a lot – , and as a result, he sat the final minute of the game out with an ejection after a double technical.
Still, Beal has no hard feelings for Doncic and he proved so in his post-game quotes in which he praised the Mavs’ star.
“It was just hoops,” Beal said. “You could see when I got kicked out, he came up and was the first one to dap me, so he understood what it was. We weren’t fighting. It was just basketball, trying to frustrate him. He was kicking our butts, so you’ve got to do something.”
Doncic shared the same feelings for Beal when the game was over. “That was great. That’s what basketball is about. “You don’t have friends on the court. I respect him for doing that. Everybody’s saying he’s only a fancy player. No, he showed he’s great on defense, too. He showed that there, so I respect it for him.”
