Davis Bertans’ first return to San Antonio as an opponent was combined with a strong individual performance. The Latvian forward scored 23 points without missing a shot from the field in the Washington Wizards‘ 124 – 122 loss to the Spurs.
Bertans made 5/5 3-pointers, 2/2 2-pointers and 4/5 from the line in 32 minutes off the bench. He added two rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
“I almost jumped out on the court,” was Gregg Popovich’s reaction to Bertans’ performance per The Associated Press. “He had a great game. He was wonderful. He’s a super human being, a heck of a player. I’m actually happy for him. He was great. He was great.”
Bertans was traded by the Spurs in July. He had spent the first three seasons of his NBA career with San Antonio.
