Joel Embiid and Karl-Anthony Towns were engaged in a rather a physical fight and now the NBA has suspended them two games without pay.
Per NBA:
“Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid and Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns have each been suspended two games without pay for their roles in an on-court altercation for their continued escalation following the incident.”
Embiid will miss Saturday’s game at the Portland Trail Blazers while Towns won’t play against the Washington Wizards on the road, also on Saturday.
The announcement doesn’t mention any fine for Sixers guard Ben Simmons who was also involved. According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the player was considered a “peacemaker” in the brawl since he tried to hold Towns back and calm him.
