Carmelo Anthony will sign a non-guaranteed contract with the Portland Trail Blazers, according to ESPN. He’s been a free agent since February, but inactive for over a year.
The Blazers off to a poor 4-8 start in the 2019-20 NBA Regular Season will shortly make the deal official. The report adds that they stayed in contact with Anthony’s agent the past months, before reaching an agreement on Thursday.
The 35-year-old American forward is expected to debut with his fifth NBA team during the Blazers’ upcoming six-game road trip. Despite remaining without a team for several months, he has been training hoping to get back in action as soon as possible.
The ten-time NBA All-Star, 2013 scoring champion has played 1.064 regular season games and 72 playoffs tilts during his NBA career. The Houston Rockets were his last team following the Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks and Oklahoma City Thunder.
