Pau Gasol is planned to join the coaching staff of the Portland Trail Blazers when he returns from Spain, the head coach of the team Terry Stotts said, per Casey Holdahl.
Gasol went to his native country to seek further medical evaluations on his left foot injury. The 39-year-old Spanish big man had problems rehabilitating his foot after undergoing surgery last May.
In a video he uploaded on social media, Gasol mentioned that his goal is to resume playing after fully recovering. Back in May, the two-time NBA champion had said that he aims to also join the Spanish national team in the Olympic Games.
Gasol signed with the Blazers in offseason after completing 2019-2020 as a player of the Milwaukee Bucks. Portland was the Gasol’s sixth NBA team after the Memphis Grizzlies, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Chicago Bulls, the San Antonio Spurs and the Bucks.
