When Bojan Bogdanovic gets hot, just stand aside. His 32 points guided the Utah Jazz over the struggling Golden State Warriors on Friday evening. The 30-year-old Croatian swingman not only matched his career-high by sinking eight shots beyond the arc, but tied the franchise record for the most three-pointers made in a single game. On a particular note, Bogdanovic missed all his five two-pointers.
“We are always trying to find a way to get the ball to the wide-open man,” he mentioned modestly following the 2019-20 NBA Regular Season contest, “The way they were defending Donovan’s pick-and-roll, blitzing him and trying to get the ball away from him, allowed other players to get wide-open 3s. They were more scared of Donovan than my 3s.”
Only 9/24 in his last three outings, Bogdanovic hit 61.5% for the night including a couple of clutch efforts down the stretch. He improved his overall season percentage to 44.4% and his NBA overall percentage between his current team, the Indiana Pacers, the Washington Wizards and the Brooklyn Nets to 39.5%.
“He’s a big part of our offense. He’s confident shooting the ball,” said Donovan Mitchell, “I told him he could go 1-for-27 and no one cares. Just shoot, shoot, shoot. He makes my life easier. Obviously he’d struggled a little bit, but I think he’s back.”
“He kept shooting,” added head coach Quin Snyder, “Anytime someone can shoot, they just need to keep doing it. Try to take good ones. I thought we found him opportunistically. And he’ll make them.”
