Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic officially joined the Air Jordan Brand. The company announced a partnership with a video posted on Twitter that shows footage of Doncic and the caption “It’s true. Welcome to the family.”
Doncic was reported to be close to a “lucrative multi-year endorsement deal” with Jordan Brand a couple of days ago. The 20-year-old Slovenian player previously had a “rookie deal” with Nike that expired last summer.
In his sophomore NBA season, Doncic, a former EuroLeague champion, MVP and Final Four MVP with Real Madrid, has been averaging 29.3 points, 9.6 rebounds and 8.9 assists in 25 games so far. He’s emerged as an early frontrunner in the race for NBA MVP, along with fellow European star (and reigning MVP) Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks.
“Luka is a phenomenal player, and at such a young age,” Michael Jordan said, per Nike. “He’s demonstrating skill it takes many guys years to develop. It will be incredible to watch him continue to advance in the league.”
