After winning the ANGT Finals in back-to-back fashion, in Kaunas in 2023 and in Berlin a little more than a week ago, 18-year-old Russian guard Egor Demin has confirmed his departure from Europe.
On Instagram, Real Madrid’s playmaker committed to the BYU Cougars in the NCAA, while also saying goodbye to the Spanish side. “Real Madrid is not just a club. It’s a symbol of excellence, passion, and dedication. Being part of this extraordinary program has been a privilege and an honor”, he wrote.
Sharing the court with ANGT Finals MVPs Jan Vide in 2023 and Hugo Gonzalez in 2024, the 2006-born talent put up 15.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game in the latest edition of the tournament.
Contributing to Real Madrid’s success, he had a double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds, while also sharing 6 assists, in 42:53 minutes of playing time in the overtime victory over INSEP Paris.
According to ESPN’s prospects and draft expert Jonathan Givony, Barcelona’s promising talent Kasparas Jakucionis is also expected to move to the NCAA, signing with Illinois. Moreover, Chema de Lucas reported about Real Madrid’s Ismaila Diagne to transfer to Gonzaga University.
