Playing with Spain in the 2020 Olympic Games remains the main target for Pau Gasol. Returning to the NBA for the 2020-21 season is a possibility as well. The 39-year-old Spaniard big discussed his current status with NBA on ESPN radio.
“I am rehabbing. That’s my status,” he said while sporting a walking boot on his injured left foot, “I am focusing on getting my foot healed so I can get back out there and try to play again.”
“It’s a possibility. I can’t disregard it,” he took out on potentially being forced to retire, “I am not a young kid anymore, especially in basketball years.”
“We agreed that it was better for me to focus on rehab and not be on a team schedule,” he pointed out referring to the Portland Trail Blazers waiving him in November.
Earlier the Spanish Basketball icon addressed the Chicago crowd prior to the Rising Stars contest. “It was very hard. I memorized my words all day working on them all day,” he admitted regarding him mentioning Kobe Bryant, “But once you’re there and also connecting with the crowd, it’s hard to keep your composure. It’s been a huge hit for those who loved him.”
