Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic and Atlanta Hawks hero Bogdan Bogdanovic are among the names called by Serbia NT head coach Igor Kokoskov, for the nation’s preliminary roster ahead of the Olympic Qualifying Tournament starting June 29.
Dallas Mavericks big man Boban Marjanovic also enters the list, while all three players are currently competing in the NBA playoffs.
Serbia will play in the FIBA Olympic qualifying tournament from June 29 to July 4, where they will fight for first place and a ticket to Tokyo’s Olympics. The tournament will be held in Belgrade, in the Aleksandar Nikolic hall and will also feature the national teams of Italy, Puerto Rico, Senegal, the Philippines and the Dominican Republic.
Serbia will compete in Group A against the Dominican Republic and the Philippines, while Puerto Rico, Italy and Senegal will compete in Group B. Two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals, which is scheduled for July 3. The final battle for a ticket to Tokyo will be held a day later.
