Two-time NBA champion Pau Gasol commented on the back-to-back defeats of Team USA to Nigeria and Australia in their first two preparation games saying that he doesn’t consider the results to have any serious importance. These losses marked the third time since 1992 and the creation of the Dream Team that USA gets beaten in consecutive matches.

“I don’t give much importance to those defeats,” Gasol said per Marca. “They are not a hundred percent [ready]. They are missing three important players who will join when the NBA Finals finish and it won’t be easy for them to adapt so quickly either. We’ll see how they arrive [at the Olympics].

Gasol faced Team USA numerous times with Spain, including the Olympic Games Finals of 2008 and 2012. USA won in both matches.

Spain will play against USA in an exhibition game that will be held in Las Vegas in July 18. “We look forward to training there, playing against them, which is a good test and trying to get to the first match of the Games against Japan as well as possible,” Gasol said.
