Since he became a pro in 2006, former NBA and reigning EuroLeague champion Rodrigue Beaubois has never been part of the French national team despite consistently playing at a top level in various competitions.
This may change ahead of the upcoming Olympic Games of 2024 that will take place in Paris.
According to Alain Digbeu, an analyst for SKWEEK and former EuroLeague veteran as a player, French national team general manager Boris Diaw met with Beaubois in Istanbul and told him to consider joining Les Bleus in the Olympics.
“Boris [Diaw] came to Istanbul… and told Beaubois: ‘You play super hot, you still have to think about finishing in the Olympic Games.’ I don’t know if Rodrigue has that in mind. We all know Rodrigue, he’s very cool-headed. He’ll take his time,” Digbeu said.

After finishing with the silver medal and a loss to Team USA in the final of the previous edition of the Olympic Games in Tokyo, France wants to go all in and compete for the gold in Paris. Coach Vincent Collet will want to have all available stars on board, including Beaubois who’s in top shape at 34 years of age.
So far in 2022-23, Beaubois is putting on some of the best numbers of his EuroLeague career with 12.4 points (on 47.8 percent 3-point shooting), 3.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists with Anadolu Efes. The Turkish side is aiming to make the threepeat in EuroLeague.
France is expected to feature the strongest possible team in the Olympics that will also include NBA superstar prospect Victor Wembanyama, apart from veterans like Evan Fournier, Rudy Gobert, Nicolas Batum, Nando De Colo, among others.
