Beating the Americans to get the ticket for the big final clash at the 2023 FIBA World Cup against Serbia, Germany will have another challenge against Team USA in 2024, right before the Olympic Games, where both teams are already qualified alongside Serbia, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Sudan, and France.
For this special friendly game, the two national teams will collapse in London’s o2 Arena on July 22, while the basketball tournament at the Olympic Games in Paris is scheduled to be held from 27 July to 11 August 2024.
Unlike what happened in 2023, this time the best NBA superstars are expected to participate, with names like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Stephen Curry already expressing their wish to wear the American jersey once again.
The last time these two faced each other, Germany beat Team USA 113-111 at the end of an up-tempo hard-fought battle, with Andreas Obst being the surprising factor on Gordie Herbert’s team with 24 points and 4/8 from beyond the arc.
The former went on to win gold beating the Serbian national team, while the latter lost against Canada in the battle for the bronze medal, ending out of the podium for the second straight World Cup.
