Jimmer Fredette headlines Team USA in first 3X3 appearance

Team USA and Jimmer Fredette are heading to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris

Among four players representing the United States in the 3X3 basketball tournament of the 2024 Olympic Games, Jimmer Fredette is looking to produce a major highlight in his success.

The former player of Panathinaikos in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague was on the list released by USA Basketball alongside Canyon Barry, Kareem Maddox, and Dylan Travis. The same four players captured silver for the United States in the 2023 3X3 World Cup, following up on earlier joined 3X3 efforts.

Similar to Serbia and China, Team USA qualified based on the world ranking. The remaining five spots will be decided through Olympic Qualifying Tournaments. The second edition of the 3X3 tournament in the Olympic Games will be held in Place de la Concorde between July 30 and August 5. Joe Lewandowski will serve as the head coach, assisted by James Fraschilla.

“Representing your country at the Olympics is the ultimate honor,” said Lewandowski, “I am so happy for these guys after all the hard work and dedication they have put into 3×3 basketball. USA Basketball has the highest of standards and now the hard work begins to reach our gold-medal dream.”

Fredette, 35, switched to 3X3 in 2022. Coming out of Brigham Young University, he was selected with the tenth overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft. Following 241 appearances in the NBA between the Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Pelicans, New York Knicks, and Phoenix Suns, using overseas options included playing for Panathinaikos during the 2019-20 campaign.
