With Victor Wembanyama taking the big spotlight, the French national team officially announced the 19-man preliminary roster for this year’s Olympic Games, which will be played between the end of July and the beginning of August in Paris.
Alongside the 1st pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, other interesting upcoming names were called up: Nadir Hifi, Bilal Coulibaly, and Ousmane Dieng. Veteran Nando De Colo will probably play his last-ever tournament representing his country.
A big frontline composed of Rudy Gobert, Mathias Lessort, and Vincent Poirier was also inserted, leaving Moustapha Fall out.
After a pretty solid first season as a rookie in the EuroLeague with Bayern Munich, Sylvain Francisco wasn’t called up. “That’s life”, he addressed the news on social media.
France’s 19-man roster for Paris 2024:
- Andrew Albicy, Nando De Colo, Killian Hayes, Nadir Hifi, Elie Okobo, Matthew Strazel
- Evan Fournier, Isaia Cordinier, Jaylen Hoard, Theo Maledon, Frank Ntilikina
- Nicolas Batum, Bilal Coulibaly, Ousmane Dieng
