After dominating the 2023-24 season with Panathinaikos by contributing to success both in the EuroLeague and in the Greek League, Kostas Sloukas ultimately decided to keep playing this summer and try to help Greece get back to the Olympic Games.

The 34-year-old experienced playmaker, who’s coming off an exciting season after joining the Greens from Olympiacos, has joined the Greek national team’s training camp. He will be coached by his former teammate in the red-and-white powerhouse, Vassilis Spanoulis.

Resting some days after suffering the reversed sweep in the Greek League Finals, Thomas Walkup and Kostas Papanikolaou also joined the team’s practice. Dinos Mitoglou, who was forced to miss the 2023 FIBA World Cup due to a thumb injury, will play with Greece this summer.

The Hellenic national team will host one of the four 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in Peace and Friendship Stadium in Piraeus from July 2-7. They will face Egypt and the Dominican Republic in Group B, and likely meet two Group A teams – Slovenia, Croatia, and New Zealand – later on.

Despite ending the NBA season earlier than expected due to injury with the Milwaukee Bucks, Giannis Antetokounmpo was also called up by Kill Bill, trying to get to Paris 2024. His last tournament with Greece was EuroBasket 2022, where he shared the court with Kostas Sloukas.
