Spain, for example, just reduced its originally extended roster, cutting three more players ahead of the defined and complete list to play at home, aiming to qualify back to the Olympics.

Santi Yusta from Zaragozza, Miquel Salvó of Gran Canaria, and Unicaja Malaga’s Yankuba Sima won’t continue training with the Spanish national team this summer.

In the first preliminary 22-man roster announced, Ricky Rubio was excluded after asking Sergio Scariolo to rest following his return season to the EuroLeague. Lorenzo Brown was given permission to travel to Athens completing the procedures to be announced as newest Panathinaikos player.

The Spanish national team will face Lebanon and Angola in Valencia‘s Group A, where the hosts are heavy favorites. Later on, they would meet two of the following naitonal teams, that participate in a stacked Group B: Bahamas, Poland, and Finland.
