A few days after the Dallas Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison publicly addressed that Luka Doncic should have suited up to play with Slovenia this summer, it looks like this will become a reality.

In a video shared by the Slovenian Basketball Federation, the 25-year-old guard was seen meeting up with the national team. The FIBA OQT in Piraeus, where Slovenia will face New Zealand and Croatia in Group A, with Egypt, Greece, and the Dominican Republic in Group B, will start on July 2.
Yesterday, preparing for such an important appointment, Aleksander Sekulic’s national team found a first friendly game victory against Lithuania, winning 92-86 without Luka Doncic.
Luka Doncic would find another pick-and-roll partner this summer ahead of the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Piraeus, as the newest Olimpia Milan’s center Josh Nebo – he signed a two-year deal with the Italian team – debuted against Lithuania.
In his last two official tournaments with Slovenia, he couldn’t find medals. At the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, he averaged 27.0 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game with Aleksandar Sekulic’s team. He had 26.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 6.6 assists per encounter at FIBA EuroBasket 2022.
