Danilo Gallinari scored 10 out of his 16 points in overtime as Italy defeated Spain 87 – 84 in a preparation game for the Olympic Games Qualifiers that took place in Madrid.

Gallinari, who also had six rebounds, hit a pair of free throws with three seconds left in the extra period to put Italy up by three. Dario Brizuela missed the winning attempt for Spain.
Sergio Llull had tied the game at 73, 10 seconds before the end of regulation. His team led 70 – 64 with 1:46 remaining in the fourth quarter but Italy made a 9 – 0 run over the last 100 seconds with two triples by Stefano Tonut and one by Marco Spissu.
Willy Hernangomez led Spain with 23 points. Santi Aldama and Alex Abrines scored 11 apiece.
Apart from Gallinari, Spissu posted 14 points and six assists while Tonut dropped 12 points.
Before the game, Spain celebrated national team legend Marc Gasol.
