Greece announces Olympic Qualifiers squad

Greece coach Vassilis Spanoulis decided on the 12 players that will compile the national team roster in the upcoming Olympic Qualifying Tournament of Piraeus (July 2 to 7).

These are the 12 players of Greece in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament of Piraeus: Kostas Papanikolaou (captain), Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nick Calathes, Dinos Mitoglou, Thomas Walkup, Giannoulis Larentzakis, George Papagiannis, Kostas Antetokounmpo, Panagiotis Kalaitzakis, Vassilis Charalambopoulos, Vassilis Toliopoulos and Dimitris Moraitis.

Michalis Lountzis and Nikos Chougkaz were the last two cuts that Spanoulis made ahead of the tournament.

Greece, the host of the Piraeus Olympic Qualifiers, will play against the Dominican Republic and Egypt in the Group Stage of the tournament. Slovenia, Croatia and New Zealand will compete in the other Group.

Two teams from each Group advance to the semifinals and the winners from that knockout phase will face each other in the Final that will determine which team will book a ticket to the Olympic Games.

The last time Greece played in the Olympic Games was in 2008.
