Raul Neto returned to action with the Brazilian national team at the 2024 FIBA Qualifying Tournament in Riga, after spending a season on the sidelines due to a ruptured patellar tendon in his right knee, an injury sustained at last summer’s FIBA World Cup.
The experienced Fenerbahçe Beko point guard suffered another setback during the opening OQT win over Montenegro. As officially announced, Neto suffered a strain in the posterior muscle of his left thigh during the third period of the Montenegro game and is out for the rest of the Riga tournament.
“In Brazil’s 81-72 victory over Montenegro in the men’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament, athlete Raul Neto felt a strain in the posterior muscle of his left thigh in the third period of the game. After undergoing an MRI, a strain was confirmed. The athlete has begun the treatment protocol but will not be able to play for the remainder of the competition.

Raul Neto played for 18 minutes against Montenegro and finished the game with seven points, three assists, one rebound, and one block.
Brazil will now face Cameroon in the last group game. The top two teams will advance to the semi-finals of the OQT in Riga.
