Waiting for the remaining opponents in Group A of the preliminary round of the 2024 Olympic Games to be revealed through the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in Piraeus and Valencia, Australia is ready to confirm the 12-player roster for the Olympics.
The list is set to be ratified by the Australian Olympic Committee, according to ESPN’s Olgun Uluc. The official announcement is scheduled for Sunday.
Eight of the 12 players en route to the Olympic Games are active NBA players. Also, Matthew Dellavedova is a former NBA player and champion with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016.
The most surprising cut to reduce the 17-player list to the final roster, Matisse Thybulle of the Portland Trail Blazers is missing from the Olympic squad. The 27-year-old swingman was part of the previous Olympic team in 2021 and also competed in the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

In Group A of the upcoming tournament, Australia clashes with Canada and the winners of the Piraeus and Valencia OQT.
The Boomers are part of the Olympic basketball tournament for the 16th time, including an ongoing streak of 14 appearances since 1972 in Munich. In the 2020 Games, held in 2021 in Tokyo, winning bronze marked the first medal.
