Puerto Rico and FIBA Alvarado beat Lithuania for the last ticket to Paris

The last ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympics went to Puerto Rico which got the job done at home against Lithuania, as the winner returned to the Olympics for the first time after Athens 2004.

The final score was 79-68 with the hosts of one of the fourth Olympic Qualifying Tournaments getting some distance in the third quarter and never looking back after that.

To be exact, Puerto Rico was leading by four (39-35) at halftime but got a 62-48 advantage just before the end of the third period and never looked back.

Jose Alvarado was the top scorer of the winning side with 23 points, plus six rebounds and two steals proving that under FIBA rules he is different compared to his NBA role, while Tremont Waters added 18 points.

On the other hand, Lithuania had just 5/26 threes, Rokas Jokubaitis scored 16 points, and Domantas Sabonis almost had a double-double (10 p. 9 r.) but couldn’t make a comeback in the second half.

Puerto Rico led by 15 points (67-52) and Lithuania couldn’t trim their lead to less than eight points (76-68) when it was already too late.
