Team USA starts Olympic prep with a win over Canada

After the news of Kawhi Leonard leaving the camp, Team USA had a solid performance in their first preparation game for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Steve Kerr’s side defeated Canada 86-72 in Las Vegas, with no players spending more than 21 minutes on the court.

Anthony Edwards led the way with 13 points, while Steph Curry added 12, and Jrue Holiday 11. Anthony Davis finished the game with a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds. Joel Embiid ended his debut with five points, six rebounds and five personal fouls.

Interestingly, Fenerbahce Beko’s forward Nigel Hayes-Davis, who is a part of the USA Select Team, got the chance to play and spent two minutes on the court.

As for Canada, R.J. Barrett scored 12 points, while Dillon Brooks and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added 10 points each.

Team USA will have their next two control games in Abu Dhabi, against Australia and Serbia.
