Nikola Jović appeared at the start of the Serbian national team preparations for 2024 Paris Olympics with an orthopedic boot on his leg, but he wasn’t immediately excluded from Svetislav Pešić’s squad, with the hope that he can recover in time.

However, Meridian Sport reports that the Miami Heat forward and 2023 FIBA World Cup silver medalist is likely to miss the Olympics due to an apparent fracture of the ankle joint.

Jović did not travel with the Serbian team for the preparatory game against France, along with Dejan Davidovac.

The Heat forward performed very well at the World Cup last summer, averaging 10.1 points, three rebounds, and 2.6 assists on the way to the silver medal.

During the 2023/24 NBA season, he played 46 regular season games, averaging 7.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and two assists, and five playoff matches where he averaged 9.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists.

All of this suggests a potentially big blow for the Serbian national team, that will meet USA, South Sudan and Puerto Rico at the Group Stage of the Paris Olympics.
