With six players scoring in double figures, Team USA beat Australia 98 – 92 in the game that opened the 2024 Abu Dhabi exhibition games ahead of the Olympics.
Anthony Davis had 17 points and 14 rebounds as the leading contributor for USA. Devin Booker scored 16, Anthony Edwards dropped 14 points, Joel Embiid posted 10 points plus five rebounds while LeBron James and Bam Adebayo also had 10 points apiece.
Jock Landale stood out from Australia with 20 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Dyson Daniels contributed 14 points.
USA was superior from the get-go and went on to take a 26-point lead, 73 – 57, in the third period. With the score 86 – 70, Australia made a 10-0 run to approach by six, with five minutes to play.
Tyrese Haliburton connected from beyond the arc twice in a row to give USA a double-digit lead once again and push back the Boomers’ comeback attempt.
